About the client

Our client is a German-based company that unites specialists from 40 countries with one purpose – to create a travel platform with a difference. This platform combines trains, buses, cars, and flights in one search to let users find the fastest, cheapest, and most comfortable travel options to any city, town, or village in Europe.

Currently, our client’s platform operates in nearly all European countries, serving 80,000 rail and bus stations and 3,100 airports in its core markets – and its coverage is growing. It has already helped travelers from 120 countries plan their journeys across Europe with ease using a tool that brings together Europe’s excellent rail, bus, and air travel infrastructure.

Increased Market Coverage for a Travel Platform

Our client came with the challenge

When our client received new funding, they decided to use it to fuel a significant expansion into new markets. They were ready to spread their travel services to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) as well as the Nordic countries. To take this strategic step, however, they needed to scale their cloud-based platform to cover new travel destinations and partner with local travel service providers.

Our client is used to working in a multicultural environment, and they decided to look for an outsourcing partner to whom they could delegate responsibility for the technical side of their scalable platform to support the expansion into CEE and Nordic countries. A strategic partnership with Intellias has helped them expand their international team – which consists of specialists from 40 countries – and add even greater coverage to the best travel tool.

Intellias developed the solution

Intellias engineers have been working alongside our client’s team on a backend solution to increase the number of convenient transportation connections. To provide the necessary scalability, Intellias has created and maintains cloud-based infrastructure that powers the platform’s support for CEE and Nordic countries.

The platform connects its newest countries with various modes of transport so that travelers can search and book optimized multi-modal journeys. The solution includes powerful analytics tools and marketing automation algorithms to provide users with a smooth search, booking, and travel experience. For instance, at our client’s request we add new travel service providers and transportation companies. These can be railways, airports, or bus stations. As a result, a standard functionality for easy search and booking of tickets, with the possibility for refunds, has been extended to the new markets. In this way, our team helps make available more destinations and service providers for travelers who use our client’s platform.

We achieved great results together

Our client’s platform is successfully operating in its new Central European, Eastern European, and Nordic markets. The biggest achievement of the Intellias team has been continuous delivery of new high-quality features. Since the beginning of this project, our metrics – indicating the success of integration for the markets delegated to Intellias – have been performing at 100% compared to 60% and 70% for other markets. We’ve provided our client with full-cycle integration of new travel service providers in Central and Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries, from requirements analysis through continuous monitoring and testing.
